Darwinia Game

RocketI don’t usually spend much time playing video games.  I guess I just don’t have the attention span for it.  I do enjoy a good game of StarCraft once or twice a year, but thats about it.  However, a few months ago a ran across a game called Darwinia.  It is mostly a strategy game, but the 3d game play and unique graphics make it very engaging.

The game is set inside a computer that has been running a simulation program.  The simulation is kind of like the game of life, but where the life forms (Darwinians) can evolve over time.  Your job is to help run programs and direct the Darwinians to get rid of a viral infection that is threatening to wipe out all of the Darwinians.  It might sound a little corny, but the game play is very fun and engaging.

There is a fee demo available where you have to help the Darwinians launch a rocket.  Since the demo is free, you really ought to give it a try.  Best of all the game runs on Windows, Linux and Macintosh, so unless you are still using a Commodore 64 it should run on your platform.
